3 Killed In Double Suicide Bombings In Far North

Two suicide bombers have set off their explosves in Cameroon’s Far North region, blowing up themselves and one other civilian.

The suicide bombing took place earlier this morning. Members of a vigilante group in the Wallande locality in Mora identify the women bombers at about 6am and chased them until they ran into the home of a certain Baba Malla.

They detonated the bombs they were carrying; killing themselves, a housemaid and wounding two children in the house. The house was equally partially damaged.

Mora is one of the neighbourhoods frequently targeted by Boko Haram terrorists. Last weekend, security officers made public a warning of a possible suicide attack in the locality. They warned denizens of the area to avoid standing in groups.

Two suicide bombers still attacked the community; but little damage was caused given that the inhabitants of Lamani, where the bomb was detonated, had stayed indoors.

The bombers had been identified by the vigilante group. One of them detonated her explosives on the spot while the other ran into a nearby home before detonating hers.

A member of the vigilante group was killed in last week’s attack while five people were wounded. Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Government Spokesperson issued a statement days later, extending the condolences of the Head of State to the family of the deceased and wishes of speedy recovery to the wounded.
