SW Cup of Cameroon Playoffs: H.O Academy Oust Victoria United

Newly promoted Southwest Regional League side Hilaire Onana Academy Football Club ousted Victoria United from the Cup of Cameroon after a 3-2 victory at the Tiko Town Green Stadium.

The game which saw a lot of fireworks has been stated by many to be the best since the playoffs started.

The scorching Tiko sun could not stop these talented players from ding what they know best as these two sides went for crucial encounter.

The boys from Limbe started the game on good footing as they saw their goal disallowed just five minutes into the game after the referee said they was a push.

The decision meant that the net of goalkeeper Akibong of H.O Academy maintained its virginity.

Victoria United will continue their dominance calling on goalkeeper Pharel Akibong to make a series of saves to deny them the curtain raiser.

However, it was H.O Academy that finally breaks the deadlock after a combination that ended with a cross that landed on the foot of their marksman Frank Herve Bibout. He slot it in with a lot of ease leaving goalkeeper Idris Kabonge to be more of a spectator as the ball kisses the roof of the net at the 17th minute.

The goal seems to have woken Victoria United FC from their slumber as they put more pace and intensity in the game that will later on pay them at the 34th minute when Takie Augustine scored the leveler. HO Academy still to come from the shock of the equaliser, Takie Augustine made it 2-1 at the 37th minute slotting the ball in between the legs of goalkeeper Pharel Akibong.

That was all for the first segment of the game as Victoria United FC dominated with a 2-1 scoreline.

When play will resume in the second segment, the boys of coach will announce the second segment of the game with a goal just 3 minutes into the second half. This was after Jonathan Desi’s banana kick left goalkeeper Idris Kabonge helpless.

With minutes dying down to seconds as the game draws to an end, Ange Essama in a solo action saw will magnificent strike kissing the back of the net at the 88th minute.

When the referee will blast the whistle at the end of the match, it was HO Academy of Buea that carried the day 3-2.
