A lecturer and Finance Control Department staff in the University of Buea, UB, lost their lives in a fatal road accident which occurred along the Tiko-Douala highway on Tuesday, March 24.
The two, Chofor Joyvice, lecturer in the Department of Management, and Enome Rovial Ekonde, a worker with the Finance Control Department, lost their lives on their way back from Douala.
The duo died when their car had a head-on collision with a truck. The impact of the collision twisted the car beyond repairs.
The victims’ bodies were immediately taken to the Tiko Mortuary, and later transferred to the Buea Regional Hospital Annex Mortuary.
Apart from teaching in UB, Chofor has taught management lessons in other higher professional institutions like CUIB and HIBMAT. The man, described by his students as calm, intelligent and understanding, will be greatly missed.
Meanwhile, it will be a hard one to accept for the wife of Enome Rovial who put to bed two months ago. Enome was a member of the University of Buea Social Sports Club, UBSSC, where he held the post of Secretary General. He was a passionate supporter of FC Barcelona and a leading striker with the UBSSC team.
The Tiko-Douala highway has been termed by many as a death trap, considering the number accidents that keep occurring on the highway. It is one of the highways in Cameroon with the highest number of road accidents.
