The United Nations system in Cameroon has said it will be assisting Cameroon’s developmental projects with F CFA 381 Billion.
The UN’s plan was revealed May 8 in Yaounde in the presence of developmental partners and government authorities from the Ministry of the Economy Planning and Regional Development.
According the UN, one third of the envelope is readily available while 68.8% is yet to be mobilised. Felicite Tchibindat, UN Resident Coordinator said the money will be geared at developmental projects which are aimed towards achieving Cameroon’s 2035 economic emergence vision.
It was equally revealed that more than 9.9% of the fund will be allocated to the development of employment opportunities, 38.8% reserved for health and nutrition, 6.3% for education and vocational training and 45, 5% will be used for resilience and food security.
The money delivered under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Cameroon for the period 2018-2020, is aligned with the planning of the growth and employment strategy.
In a context where Cameroon faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in its northern and eastern regions, the three-year UNDAF plan will focus on building a strong, diversified, resilient economy that leaves no marginalization, strengthening the link between humanitarian and development, while targeting refugees.
