Niat, Cavaye Condemn SDF For May 20 Boycott

Marcel Niat Njifenji, Senate President has condemned the SDF for calling on other political parties and citizens at large to boycott this year’s edition of the National Day.

The Senate president was speaking during the opening of the June session of parliament in Yaounde on June 8. He however praised Cameroonians for reportedly ignoring the boycott calls from opposition political parties and turning out in great numbers to take part in the May 20 festivities.

Meanwhile, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, Speaker of the lower house of parliament equally took on the SDF when he opened the session in the hemicycle of the national assembly.

He noted that Cameroon is one and indivisible and equally hailed citizens for proving their maturity by not heeding the call of the political leaders who undermined government efforts towards resolving the Anglophone problem.

He praised efforts made by Government so far to solve the issues raised by indigenes of the North West and South West regions. He lauded what he described as indefatigable efforts by education authorities to avoid a blank academic year.

Besides political issues, Cavaye decried the rising rate of drug consumption in the school milieu. He said it will have a negative impact on the educational and health life of Cameroons youth.
