MTN Elite One side Stade Renard’s keeper, Tayiwoh Princewill and two other players have been shortlisted for the Cameroon Professional Football League (LFPC) Player of the Month for May, the LPFC announced on their official website on Sunday.
Tayiwoh will battle it out with his teammate, Tamo Giresse and Coton Sport’s Jean Joseph Kombous.
The former Victoria United goalkeeper has been in a scintillating form lately that has seen him four clean sheets in five games so far. He has been very instrumental in Starde Renard of Melong’s recent form after a poor first round.
Although not signed as a first choice, Tayiwoh has been able to claim the ladder to take be the first choice keeper just like he did during his days with Victoria United. This has seen him played 450 minutes in five games and also keeping three clean sheets away and two at home.
After appearing twice in the team of the week this season, that is one time more than the other contestants who make it in the team of the week twice in the month of May, Tayiwoh is the favourite for the crown.
However, he faces a challenge from his teammate and former YOSA striker Tamo Giresse Tinwo who boasts of a hat-trick in the month of May against Eding FC in matchday 19. He also appeared in that weeks LPFC team of the week. In all, out of 420 minutes played in five games, he scored four times and the author of two assists.
On his part, despite failingly to appear in the LPFC team of the week in the month of May, Coton Sport’s Jean Joseph Kombous could be the dark horse in the race. This, considering the fact that he never appeared in the LPFC team of the week but is amongst the top three shortlisted for the crown.
So far, he has scored four goals in the month of May. He has a record of four goals including a penalty after starting four games and appearing in one as a sub.
