A comedy of errors gifted League 1 Union of Douala a convincing 3-0 win over newly promoted Southwest Regional League side Options Sports Academy in a pre-season match staged on Tuesday at the Limbe community field.
The Limbe based club are specialized in defying the odds and there was a feel good factor going into the friendly but on the day the Nasara Kamakai were right on the top of their game.
Union raided the goal mouth of the opposition but lacked the extra edge.
President Frank Happi’s charges dominance soon reflected on the scoreboard thirty five minutes into the match when Options Sports Academy keeper failed to stop a long range effort from going in.
Options Sports Academy had couple of chances before the break to level the scoring but Union were very discipline at the back.
With their tail up Union went for the killer end in the second half.
Club captain Samuel Nlend made it two for the visitors deep into the game before wrapping up the scoring from the spot with ten minutes remaining.
Defeat to Union was a reality check for President Awantoh Henry Neba’s team.
A forensic level of details ground plus less generosity at the back is now the priority.
