The first edition of the BONAVADA Christmas Holiday Football Championship has ended with Zion FC of Upper Bokova and CYF Ladies of Bokwai crowned champions in the males and females categories respectively.
In the finals, played Sunday, January 5, at the Upper Bokova Community Field, CYF Ladies of Bokwai defeated Gentle Ladies of Bova 2-1 after post-match penalties.
In the men’s final, it was Zion FC of Upper Bokova that disunited Bova United FC 2-1 in a mouth-watering encounter.
Speaking at the end of the finals, the organizer of the BONAVADA Christmas Holiday Football Championship, Emmanuel Mbua Mbua, thanked all who supported the initiative and prayed that the next edition should be sponsored.
The tournament, which started on December 22, 2019, and ended on January 5, had six teams, three teams in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
The tournament was to promote friendship, unity, and solidarity amongst the 13 villages in BONAVADA.
