The Southwest Region’s Cup of Cameroon playoffs draws for the second round took place on Tuesday, January 21, at the Southwest FECAFOOT Secretariat and produced some heavyweight matchups that would be worthy in just about any knockout stage.
With most of the teams coming from the Regional League, the draw saw CINYODEV FA pitched with Tiko United FC, CUSA – Buea United, and HO Academy -Victoria United FC, just to name a few.
Here is a look at the complete draw results:
FUSSA vs Mount Cameroon
Istanbul FA vs NQSA
Cinyodev FA vs Tiko United FC
Options SA vs ISOHSA
NEMFA vs Future Dreams
Nkamanyi FI vs Kumba Lakers FC
CUSA vs Buea United FC
HO Academy vs Victoria United FC
Those are some tasty matchups and there are few favourites when these sides clash on Saturday and Sunday in pitches across the Region. Cinyodev FA will be pleased to get a Tiko United FC side that is still struggling to put things in place after a late start. Mount Cameroon FC also got a favourable pitching against FUSSA when one considers they could have landed a club like CINYODEV FA.
The toughest matchups will be the three derbies pitting Nkamanyi FI vs Kumba Lakers FC, CUSA vs Buea United FC and Options SA vs ISOHSA, but all these are even. NQSA dodged the heavyweights and landed Istanbul Football Academy of Buea that are playing the Cup for the first time, while Victoria United FC avoided Buea United FC, Mount Cameroon FC and Options SA, though HO Academy is still a test.
Newcomer, Istanbul FA, is the lone Divisional League side still in the race that is dominated by the big guns in the Region. Coming in as best losers, they will definitely be looking forward to correcting the runs that saw them suffer defeat in the hands of ISOHSA after post-match penalties.
The matches will be played on January 25 and 26 in the towns of Limbe, Tiko, and Kumba. Meanwhile, the draws for the third round will take place on Tuesday, January 28, at the Southwest FECAFOOT Secretariat.
