Newly created Fako Divisional League side Istanbul Football Academy of Buea, IFAB, made history as the first Divisional League side in Southwest Region to qualify for the Round of 32 of the Cup of Cameroon.

The club on Sunday, February 2 at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium walloped Nkamanyi FI of Kumba 3-0 to qualify for the Round of 32 of the Cup of Cameroon.

This was achieved thanks to goals from, Cyrille Patrick, Yannick Ebangha Akum and Ignatius Ojong.

The victory also saw the club keeping a clean sheet in two consecutive games since returning to the Cup as Best Losers after the first round. The club has corrected the errors they made in the first round.

Istanbul FA was created some three months ago and has since then been making wave in the football world recently.

It had earlier on won the AE Sports Management Buea Preseason Tourney after beating Buea United FC in the final. In their quest to represent the region at the Cup of Cameroon, IFAB was beaten by ISOHSA in the first round after post-match penalties but later returned as best losers. They will in the 2nd round walloped NQSA 2-0 before edging Mount Cameroon FC in the 3rd round 1-0.

They are the lone Divisional side out of the three clubs to represent the region at the Cup of Cameroon with the other two clubs all Regional League clubs. Coach Ache Ebenezer winner of the Cup of Cameroon with Mount Cameroon FC in 2002 has recycled his charges instilling in them the winning mentality.

Also in the ranks of the players is another winner of the Cup of Cameroon, Takang Frankline who won the trophy with Kumbo Strikers in the year 2000.

A club full of experienced players, Istanbul FA though yet to play a single game at the Fako League is already writing their names in the annals of football history.
