Daniel Walinjom has hailed his players never say die mentality after Options SA come from behind victory left them top of their group in the Southwest regional football championship
Options SA surprisingly found themselves trailing after Motia Motia Neville scored in the 42nd minute against the run of play. Despite their dominance, the home side struggled to break down Fussa’s resilient defense but did find the breakthrough two minute before the interval, which came courtesy of Chailbula Ndi Heleino.
It has been revealed that Coach Walindjom galvanized his players with a rousing speech before they went out for the second half.
It took just five minutes for Options SA to extend their lead after the interval. Once the floodgates were opened Fussa were rendered a laughing stock as Chailbula Ndi Heleino and Mabankia Peter Paul scored twice each as Options SA turned on the style to hammer their visitors 7-1.
Coach Walindjom however refuses to get carried away, and says he will only relax when his team cross the finish line as champions of the region.
” We still have a long way to go. Today’s performance is indeed a step in the right direction”
While acknowledging that his charges were miles away from reaching their irresistible best on the day he is nonetheless delighted with his players improved mentality.
” We have to improve our approach to games. We have quality in our team and if we can bring on the pitch the sky is our limit” he said.
Unbeaten in the opening five games across all competitions this campaign, Options SA now lead their group with four points.
