Newly created Istanbul Football Academy of Buea, IFAB, started their season with a 2-1 victory over a stubborn Babungo Sports Academy side that showed so much resilience.
The game that took place at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium on Sunday, February 16, saw IFAB finally playing their first official game in the Fako Divisional League.
The first segment of the game had rather looked simple with Ignatius Ojong scoring a brace to give IFAB the comfortable lead. Ojong got the first goal at the 26th minute and the second at the 34th minute to get his first brace in the season.
However, when play will resume in the second minute Babungo SA turned the table to put Istanbul FA in an uncomfortable position.
This will force Brandon Mbi Abane of IFAB to make a careless mistake at the 52nd minute that will be corrected by Bechem Ayuk of Babungo SA who slot it in to reduce the tally to 2-1.
With some 40 minutes still to go, the pressure was on IFAB as their opponents continue to pose a series of threats. This will see the CEO of Istanbul FA, Elvis Atemkeng fuming at some decisions that didn’t favour his guys.
The game finally ended with Istanbul beating Babungo SA 2-1 as they extend their unbeaten run to four games.
However, they failed to keep a clean sheet for the first time in four games.
