Former Indomitable Lions defender Aurélien Chedjou has quashed speculations that he could come out of retirement to take part in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, which Cameroon is due to host.
Hear him: “Regarding the national team, I preferred to stop because there is a new generation that has taken up the torch, and which is doing very well indeed…The national team has passed,” Aurélien Chedjou said in a chat with journalists on the Africa Football Media platform.
The last time he donned the Indomitable Lions shirt dates back to November 12, 2016.
During this period he announced his retirement from international football after making 47 appearances and scoring a goal.
“I have already announced my international retirement. A new generation has emerged, let’s allow them to do what they have to do…I will be their first supporter,” Chedjou averred.
He currently plays with French Ligue 1 side Amiens Sporting Club.
