It was another exciting day in the ongoing Burj Khalifa Interquarter Competition where it rained tension and pressure as star-studded Federal Quarters FC edged stubborn Biaka FC side 1-0.
The first phase of the match had a series of frustrations as both teams squandered all scoring opportunities in front of the goal which could have been a curtain-raiser. Biaka FC was kept busy by the experience forwards of Federal Quarters FC as he made a series of saves to deny them the opener. Coming into the game with just a point from a 1-1 draw against UB Junction FC, Federal Quarters FC desperately needed nothing but a win in this encounter.
On her part, four points Biaka FC needed a draw to guarantee them a qualification ticket for the quarterfinals. Despite the high stakes, the first half ended 0-0 leaving die hearted fans with hopes of a better second phase.
When play will resume in the second phase of the game, fresh legs were added thereby changing the rhythm of the game. It was Biaka FC that took control of the game but failing to be clinical in front of goal. They will, however, pay for failing realistic in front of goal as Federal Quanters forward Franklin Mbondi finished from close range to give his side a 1-0 lead at the 62nd minute.
This will eventually be the lone goal in the encounter.
The win gave Federal Quarters FC 4 points in three games as they finished behind first-place Muea that had 5 points.
Federal Quarters forward Ako Alexis was voted the Buea United FC Man of The Match.
