Buea-based sports radio station, Dream FM, has donated 80 pallets of 1.5 litres of mineral water to the 2019/2020 champions of the Cameroon Elite One football, PWD of Bamenda.
This was handed over to the club at the Njalla Quan Sports Academy, NQSA, centre in Limbe where the champions had a one week camping ahead of their friendly in Equatorial Guinea.
After receiving the gifts, the President of PWD Bamenda, Pascal Abunde, thanked the CEO of Dream Network Cameroon, Dickson Fon Sama for such a wonderful gesture. “This is not the first time we are receiving a gesture from them. He has been accompanying the project and we want to say, thank you to him. We will want to urge other supporters to put in their support to see that this project is a success,” he explained.
On his part, the Operation Manager of Dream FM, Christopher C. Nwajebe said as a sports radio, Dream FM has as social responsibility give back to the public.
“We have as a corporate responsibility to give back to the public. And in this case, through football it was the champions PWD of Bamenda…Dream FM is taking a different turn.
“We want to try and do what we can do. The motivation here is to support PWD of Bamenda with material and the material here is water. We all know the importance of water in athletes and footballers in particular. We believe that this will help them a great deal during train sessions and matches,” he said.
As to the choice of PWD of Bamenda, he said the radio that has been based in the Southwest Region of Cameroon will extend the gesture to others in the future ahead. He also explained that the CEO of Dreams Network Cameroon, Fon Sama has the passion to grow most especially grassroots football in Cameroon.
Dream FM is the lone private radio station in the country that gives live coverage of all Elite One and Two games in the country and also top games in the Regional Leagues.
