The first edition of the Wotutu-Ewongo Football Tournament organised by Edwin Eselem ended with Lions of Wotutu crowned champions.
The final that took place at the Catholic School Field in Wotutu on Sunday, August 29 saw hundreds of football lovers answering present to watch the cracker.
With the players of the two finalists (Sunshine FC and Lions of Wotutu FC) showcasing their talent, the tough encounter ended 1-1 after regular playing time as both sides had to settle on penalty shootouts to see who is going to carry the day.
At the end of the shootouts, Sunshine FC failed to shine as the Lions of Wotutu FC roar with a 4-1 victory to be crowned champions of this great football jamboree.
The Wotutu-Ewongo Football Tournament that started on Saturday, July 25 had eight teams taking part. These are Oneen Oneen FC, Royal Veteran FC, Alpha FC, Sunshine FC, Lions of Wotutu, Success FC, The Last Boys FC and Tecimetion FC
Quizzed on why the organisation of the football jamboree in Wotutu, Bonjongo Court Area, the organiser Edwin Eselem said it is to give hope to the youths.

Meanwhile, at the end of the final, the organiser promised to make the football jamboree an annual event. He also goes further to say, that “the biggest winner of the tournament is the Wotutu community”.
