The caravan of the third phase of the nationwide vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 was into the nooks and crannies last weekend as the exercise looks to boot the vaccination numbers and keep the population safe from the virus.
Since its launch last Wednesday, the various teams have been moving into neighbourhoods with loud speakers to vaccinate the population but also sensitise them against the dangers of the disease.
Midway through the vaccination exercise last weekend, information and engagement meetings on the exercise were held in all the 360 subdivisions under the supervision of the divisional officers as over 7300 community sensitisation agents gave updates on the exercise.
The latest vaccination exercise coincided with that to vaccinate civil servants across the country which has entered its third week.
For the moment, over 900 civil servants have already been vaccinated with figures set to surpass the 1000 mark this week, according to the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Joseph LE.
Minister Joseph LE was speaking last Thursday after visiting the vaccination pool at his Ministerial department to encourage the vaccination agents.
Despite the timid start of the exercise, it has gradually picked up steam and all the vaccination stations in the various regions are operational, Minister Joseph LE said.
According to statistics, the East Region leads the way with 108 civil servants vaccinated, closely followed by the North West and the Far North Regions.
