Boko Haram Attack Leaves Two Dead In Cameroon

At least two people, including a suicide bomber, died Friday night in the Cameroonian region of Dabanga (in the far north) during an attack blamed on the terrorist group Boko Haram, APA learned on Saturday from security sources.

A second suicide bomber, followed by members of the vigilance committee, managed to escape into the wilderness toward neighbouring Nigeria.

The last large-scale attack attributed to Boko Haram in the area was in October 2015 when the towns of Zigue-Dabanga, Achigachia, Amhediré and Doulo were simultaneously hit by a terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 17 people and injured many more, including the assailants, civilians and Cameroonian army personnel.

In January 2016, the government confirmed the execution of Dabanga’s special commissioner, Ousmaila Sagou, and retired inspector Adam Hassan, both of them kidnapped a few days earlier by suspected Boko Haram members.

According to the Cameroonian authorities, the Nigeria-based terrorists group now on its last leg, in the last few weeks, has increased attacks in the far north of the country.
